Washington D.C., Aug. 2, 2011 - Two of the country’s premier organizations dedicated to promoting sustainable business practices will collaborate to welcome corporate environmental, health and safety (EHS) and sustainability leaders to Tucson, Ariz. this October.
NAEM announced the U.S. Business Council for Sustainable Development (US BCSD) will hold its Fall meeting in conjunction with the Association’s 19th annual EHS Management Forum on Oct. 19 and 20.
"We’re looking forward to having the US BCSD join us again this year," said Carol Singer Neuvelt, Executive Director of NAEM.
"Through hands-on projects, their members are pioneering solutions to sustainable development challenges. We hope our collaboration will foster a rich dialogue between our organizations and identify new opportunities for cooperation."
On Oct. 17 and 18, the Business Council will hold its fall meeting, which will include a workshop on developing energy efficiency financing models. On Oct. 18 the group will partner with NAEM to host a luncheon featuring an address by Bonnie Nixon, Executive Director of the Sustainability Consortium. The Consortium drives scientific research and tools to reduce a product’s environmental impacts across the supply chain.
Andrew Mangan, US BCSD Executive Director, said co-locating with the EHS Management Forum is an opportunity for the group’s members to learn best practices from NAEM’s knowledge network.
"We work hard to connect our members to the most useful resources in sustainable development," he said. "The Forum’s practical learning sessions are an excellent complement to the project-focused sessions presented during the US BSCSD meeting."
The Forum is the largest annual gathering of EHS and sustainability leaders. This year’s theme, "EHS and Sustainability Success in the New Economic Era," will feature 24 sessions and three keynote addresses by thought leaders such as Andrew Winston, author of "Green Recovery." The conference is expected to draw more than 500 attendees.
