Why did you join NAEM?

To network with other environmental managers and to have access to continuing education opportunities and other resources offered by NAEM.

What are currently working on?

Corporate level programs and management systems. In particular a multi-year global implementation of our Environmental Management Information System (EMIS) that we call GEMINI.

What do you like about your job?

The variety of issues associated with building an EMIS from scratch, including; project management, information system use and interactions with global users.

Has your environmental program received any awards or recognition? If so, what?

2016 - EH&S Information Management Award from Verdantix, an independent research firm.

2013 - IHS Spectrum Excellence Award from IHS, developer of Essential Suite software

What is your biggest challenge in your current role?

Satisfying the needs of various stakeholders and balancing project manager duties with the desire to get into the details.

What career accomplishment are you most proud of?

I am proud any time I can demonstrate improvement to the bottom line of the company, which can be difficult in a compliance role.

What advice would you have for someone entering the field today?

Ask "why" and don't take "because we have always done it that way" as an answer.

What aspect to the natural world/environment impresses you the most? Why?

Its complexity, variety and beauty. On a technical level I am fascinated by the many symbiotic relationships that make the whole thing work.

What do you like to do during your free time?

Golf, biking, traveling, do-it-yourself home improvement and spending time with my family.

NAEM Introduces Excellence Awards

The National Association for Environmental Management (NAEM) will host its inaugural Excellence Awards on Thursday, October 25, 2018 at the 26th Annual EHS & Sustainability Management Forum. During this award program's first year, NAEM will be presenting a Lifetime Achievement Award and six NexGen Leader Awards, thanks to supporting sponsorship by AECOM. The NAEM Excellence Awards exist to recognize and elevate leaders in the corporate EHS&S community as well as showcase best practices of EHS&S management in corporations.
