Many health and safety issues in workplace laboratories including, but not limited to, necessary programs, procedures, training, ventilation, and PPE, are governed by specific OSHA and EPA regulations.

There is a lot of confusion in industry about what regulations apply because there are different rules for laboratories based on their operations; productions labs and research and development (R&D) labs are considered very different under the OSHA standard. Even the regulatory definitions of production and R&D labs can be confusing.

Speaker Biographies

Keith Green

Keith Green has over 20 years of extensive experience providing leadership in environmental, health and safety (EH&S) compliance, and industrial hygiene services to clients in a variety of business and industry segments including industrial manufacturing, transportation, pharmaceuticals, and commercial real estate sectors. His client and project management expertise includes safety and industrial hygiene compliance and program management; environmental remediation; environmental investigations and site assessments; indoor air quality (IAQ) and building forensics and diagnostics evaluations; EH&S auditing and compliance assistance; EH&S management systems auditing and program development; and training.

As a certified industrial hygienist (CIH) and certified safety professional (CSP), Keith has served as a corporate health and safety officer for a US business of more than 1,200 employees as well as providing expert compliance and program assistance to multi-national and US clients. He understands the necessity of having an effective corporate Health and Safety program that keeps employees safe and productive. He recieved his B.S. in Chemistry with Environmental Science Concentration from Ohio University.

Monica Meyer

Over the past 16 years, Monica Meyer has been providing strategic and business safety experience to the organizations she supported. During this time, she focused on development of both corporate and facility level Health and Safety programs, developing systems for both compliance and risk management. Monica’s experience spans a broad range of general and heavy industry as well as construction and also includes environmental regulatory compliance. She is a key part of EHS Support’s Compliance and Merger and Acquisition business lines.

Monica’s role at EHS Support allows us to further broaden the scope of services that we provide to clients and is key to our partnership with your EH&S managers, ensuring you have the tools necessary to maintain industry leading health and safety programs. Her primary responsibilities include directing our teams in health and safety compliance and risk assessment programs, as well as managing our associated risk assessments for both our compliance and merger and acquisition programs.

Monica is committed to providing industry specific solutions to each client in a results-oriented, bottom line focused approach and provides extensive experience in risk management, workplace safety, and attention to workers’ compensation solutions. She enjoys the challenge of designing and delivering customized safety programs and training to suit the unique challenges that each business faces. Her attention to hazard identification, non-compliance issues, and the implementation of sound accident prevention strategies has proven effective for numerous clients in reducing both worker injuries and lowering workers’ compensation costs. She recieved her BS in Safety Sciences from Indiana University of Pennsylvania.

Jonathan Scheibe

Jon Scheibe has 17 years in environment, health, and safety positions at manufacturing, oil refining, and specialty chemical companies in the Fortune 500™. Jon’s current role is Global Life Safety and Laboratory Safety Programs Manager for Ashland LLC, a leader in specialty chemicals with over 6,000 employees and operations in more than 30 countries. His global responsibilities include laboratory safety, safe driving programs, fire protection engineering, life safety programs, and safety culture development through the Zero Incident Culture (ZIC) initiatives at Ashland.
